Our Story
Copacabana SF was founded by brothers Alfonso and Oliver Guzman Illanes, lifelong San Francisco residents with deep roots in the Excelsior and Ocean Avenue communities.
Growing up in San Francisco, they spent years immersed in the city’s multicultural arts scene — from local festivals and neighborhood events to over two decades of participation in San Francisco Carnaval and San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival through folkloric dance groups such as Morenada San Francisco.
Inspired by the historic Latin music venues that helped shape cultural movements across the Americas, Copacabana SF was created with a vision of building a modern cultural hub where music, dance, and artistic expression could thrive once again in San Francisco.

Today, Copacabana SF aims to provide:
-
A professional venue for local and international Latin artists
-
A safe and respectful entertainment environment
-
Cultural programming for all ages
-
Educational dance and music classes
-
A welcoming community gathering place
Our mission is to celebrate, preserve, and promote Latin American cultural arts through music, dance, and live performance in a professionally managed, community-centered venue.
